Utopian marriages had great importance to people. Before the marrying partners could give their final acceptance, both males and females would be presented to each other under a patron or matron. However, in other marriages at the time, chastity and inspection were not practiced. Utopian marriages are similar to modern ones because both allow divorce if one partner in the institution commits adultery.
