The first developed model was based on a “What?/Why?” T-chart. In the “What?” column, children wrote down all the steps they took, and in the “Why?” column, the justification for them. The alternative model suggested by the teachers implied using the “math house” scheme. Its “attic” was used for rephrasing the task in one’s own words, the “rooms” were filled with steps and strategies, and the “basement” was for the answer. I prefer the first model, as its structure seems easier to comprehend. However, I would offer the second model to those students who need more visualization.
