Gregor’s sister Grete serves as his last connection to his family after being transformed. Grete feeds Gregor a cup of milk served with bread. She also moves the fixtures in Gregor’s room to make room for his transition state. Grete, unlike the other family members, ignores the belief that her brother’s financial contribution to the family determines his worth. Grete chooses to take care of her brother over being freed, demonstrating her respect for Gregor’s dignity.
Gregor’s primary aim in his family prior to his transition was to necessitate his family. When Gregor lost his skills to operate, he as well lost his spot as the family’s primary caregiver.
