Some Americans were excluded from the common interests of the Declaration of Independence. The use of the phrase “all men are created equal” was probably not a deliberate attempt to infringe on women’s rights. It meant that they were politically invisible.

Thomas Jefferson wrote a paragraph of the Declaration in which the king was accused of transporting slaves from Africa to the colonies and “suppressed any legislative attempt to prohibit or restrict this abominable trade.” It may have been a small prerequisite for the abolition of slavery in the United States.

An interesting fact is also how much Tom Paine’s brochure has revolutionized the minds of most people. It is explained by the author’s depth and logic and, at the same time, the simplicity and accessibility of his language.
