Nutrients that are relevant for plant growth are usually supplied in vitro. The type of culture medium used determines how successful a certain plant propagation technique used will be. In any case, plants are known to grow strong and vigorous when elemental nutrients are absorbed directly from the soil. These elements are the same ones that are found in the tissues. For instance, plant nutrients that are absorbed in plenty from the soil (macro-nutrients) contain such elements as calcium, potassium, and magnesium. The intake of these elemental nutrients is in the form of dissolved ions which find their way into plant tissues cells to support growth. The micro-nutrients such as zinc, sodium, and iron are also found in plant tissues, though in relatively small quantities.
