Physically assisted suicide (PAS) is synonymous with euthanasia and implies the termination of a prolonged incurable disease at the patient’s request. On the other hand, physician-assisted death (PAD) is a broader definition and includes physically assisted suicide. PAD has two aspects: death by self-taking lethal medications prescribed by a doctor or prescribing medication and performing all actions by a doctor.

The ethical problem of euthanasia is the debate about the nature of the motive for performing this action. Hence, many people support euthanasia, arguing that this procedure helps alleviate the suffering of patients. On the other hand, people believe that this may lead to the abuse of this opportunity.
