Privatization is not a dichotomy. Both already exist, and there is a continuum. What is the right mix/balance? Can privatization assist the healthcare system in carrying out equity-oriented processes – why or why not? In what situations?

A

I think that equity in health care may be achieved through the balance of privatization and public insurance plans. For example, the reasons to support privatization are the promotion of patients’ rights, high-quality services, competitions between facilities, and better performance in hospitals. The only step to be taken is to shift the burden of paying for healthcare services to individuals. Only in the situations when patients agree to pay for their treatment can equity be achieved.
