A case of nursing negligence in Taiwan demonstrates how ignoring immediate responsibilities leads to a patient dying. A clinic employee did not provide proper care and did not report the deterioration of the patient’s condition to an attending physician, which, as Ngo, Patel, Paterick, Chandrasekaran, and Tajik remark, is a direct violation of the rules of nurses’ work. Some researchers interpret such cases as reckless killings and insist that those responsible for deaths should be severely punished. Nevertheless, the condemnation caused a public outcry and became the reason for conducting widespread checks on the competence of nurses.
