One of the most fundamental questions millennials ask regarding the fight for freedom is what Martin Luther King and Malcolm X would do in such a scenario. These two leaders contributed a massive influence on the civil rights movements, and their efforts are felt to the present day. However, while they did their best to fight for the freedom of black people in America, their struggles did not yield the ultimate desire they anticipated.

People of color in the US continue to face threats of different forms because of discrimination and racial segregation. Modern-day civil rights activities would consider the words and actions of Dr. Martin Luther and Malcolm X during the Civil Rights movement as the pillar of their quest for freedom.

The BLM movement closely resembles the civil rights movement of the 1960s. The 1964 Civil Rights Act was thought to be a means to end racial inequality in the United States but that has not been the case over eight decades later.

African Americans have faced consistent and intentional abuse from law enforcers and other white supremacists in the last two years. Consequently, it is believed that the civil rights movement led by Marin Luther and Malcolm X is still in force because the issues fought then are still deeply rooted in modern America.

Moreover, the ending of the Civil Rights era did not end the movement because there has been continued existence of social and political prejudices against people of color. Such forces against the black people have greatly hindered colored communities from reaching their life goals and attaining their full potential.

One of the major events recently witnessed against the black people was that of killing George Floyd. In a video seen and circulated worldwide, two police officers killed an unarmed man. Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd in the video, choking him to death despite the man being calm. Even though this was the death of one man, it reflected what the African Americans face each day in their country.

The death of Floyd sparked a major range in Minneapolis and the entire America. Some others joined the march in their respective capitals, showing how people of color were treated in America and other parts of the world. The BLM marched in most American cities for days, and sometimes there were violent encounters between the police and the protestors.

Another major event of the BLM was witnessed on February 26, 2012, after the killing of Trayvon Martin by shots from George Zimmerman. Zimmerman saw a black young man and reported to the police regarding a suspicious man. Later, Zimmerman confronted Trayvon and shot and killed him after a slight scuffle. Although charged with murder, Zimmerman was acquitted of racial discrimination as the main cause of the report that later led to the death of the high school student.

The murder of Trayvon is similar to that of George Floyd as both were reported for suspicion or unfounded claims that resulted in loss of lives and mostly because the culprits were black men. Black people continue to face such discrimination and suspicion in some parts of America, which eventually results in them being killed by police or licensed gun owners.

The BLM resembles the civil rights movement, especially how it involves women. Malcolm X told his followers that the most disrespected human is the Black woman in the USA. The death of Breonna Taylor at the hands of the police revived the belief that Malcolm told the people in the 1960s.

Taylor is believed to have been killed because of her color, for being a black woman, and for suspicion of hiding a drug dealer. Her death sparked demonstrations by BLM and other civil rights movements regarding racial discrimination and policing in America.

In conclusion, black people continue to face racial and social discrimination, which the people in the 1960s tried to liberate. In present times, the Black Lives Matter Movement is seen as the leading group fighting against racism in the United States and other countries.

The movement uses strategic approaches to fight the battle for black people to get equal freedom from other races. It uses peaceful protests and resistance to communicate its desires regarding any issue facing the affected communities. These strategies have mainly been to try to reduce the number of casualties, while at the same time, achieving the best possible outcomes in their mission.

The BLM has succeeded in some of its objectives as the 1960s civil rights movement did, though the problems are still deeply rooted among some American people and organizations. It is unclear when such movements will end since inequality problems continue to affect African Americans. However, such protests are necessary for achieving the goals of equality in America.
