A government can protect its citizen from the competition so that the business enterprise may grow. The government also protects its citizen from the competition by other external markets if the perceived competition may lead to loss by the local traders. One of the ways the government has been able to do this is by the NAFTA agreement. NAFTA provides for a trade-free area with thin the Northern Americas. This agreement allows Mexicans to buy more U.S. products and also helps US investors to make money and add to the U.S. GNP by investing in Mexican factories which are able to export more to the U.S. because U.S. tariffs have been dropped.
