The four basic elements include for a positive or comfortable emotional climate are:
- Connection: an environment of connection between teachers, peers, and parents promotes a positive climate environment for physically challenged learners. This element supports the social development of children enabling them to socialize effectively.
- Engagement: learners get involved in most learning activities so that they feel part incorporated into the learning process. This element helps in nurturing the physical development of children through playing and physical education.
- Safety: the physically challenged learners need to be assured safety from physical, mental, or emotional torture. This element gives children an assurance of care, developing their emotional life skills, and they learn to control emotions.
- Support: learners are assisted through guidance, life skill education, and acceptability of oneself.
The above elements support the five selves: physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual components of the personality. Connection engages the social, emotional, and spiritual realms through interactions with others.
Engagement, which presupposes physical and intellectual activity, involves developing a personality. Safety and support are based on providing physical and mental comfort, leveraging all five selves.
