Building various kinds of the church was necessary to create places for worship and was used by the government as one of the major means of controlling their people. Religion and policy were connected in the middle Ages. Sometimes, even religion was above the government, and people obeyed only the church. The existence of churches testified to the fact that medieval societies were religious people. People always need religion to answer the eternal question of our life. The existence of the supernatural explained a lot of phenomena of their life.
