Rappaccini’s daughter happens to be Biblical Eve in this story. From the very beginning, Giovanni is inquisitive about Rappaccini’s garden and is tempted to get inside it. When related to the Bible, this is how Eve was with the tree of knowledge. Eve was also to labor in the garden to ensure that all plants and animals were taken care of.
Eve wanted to eat the fruit from the tree even after being warned by God not to take it. Then, older women tell Giovanni a secret passage into the garden. In the Garden of Eden, the serpent convinces Eve to eat the apple from the tree.
Giovanni realizes that he has been poisoned, thereby taking on the role of Eve. Beatrice gets convinced by him that it is terrible to get poisoned. Comparing Adam to Giovanni, Adam is persuaded to take the apple from the tree, resulting in their banishment from Eden. Beatrice dies in the story in question, which is the banishing of Giovanni from his paradise.
