Modern astronomy evolved to where it is today due to the contribution of various scientists. Those included: Nicolaus Copernicus, who reconstructed the Solar System by placing the Sun to the center with other planets traveling or orbiting around it, but speciously used circles to represent the orbits of the planets; Tycho Brahe, who made more precise observations than the previous ones, including making accurate measurements of the contemporary planetary positions and estimating the distance to supernova among others; Johannes Kepler who ushered in new astronomy with three Laws of Motion; Galileo Galilee who made myriad of discoveries to account for the Copernican view that the Sun is centered in the Solar System; and Sir Isaac Newton who postulated the Universal Law of Gravitation, proved the existence of the Law of Gravity, developed Laws of Motion and exposed the world to the tendency of objects to move in straight lines (or inertia).
