Joe is currently in 12th grade. He is unsure about his career goals following graduation and comes to you for career counseling. How would you evaluate the client’s decision-making skills?

In this case, Joe’s decision-making skills could be more or less precisely evaluated in the form of a conversation. There are plenty of tests that could help with assessment. However, an in-depth interview with a natural flow and additional questions when it is appropriate could provide the interviewer with the relevant qualitative data. Some examples of the questions could be: “Have you ever had to make an unpopular decision? What happened?”, “Tell me about the time you had to make an immediate decision?” and “Do you make decisions with more ease alone or with a group?”
