Historic signs have been used to tell stories about a people’s culture, although concealing some elements of the past. Hammond analyzes these plaques and reveals that although they sit on indigenous sites, the histories behind such have been erased by the signposts that are used to show a positive side of colonialism.

Rewriting the historical plaques and releasing them to the public, Hammond encouraged people to see the holes left by colonialism and how these signs have been used to conceal the ugly past. Evidently, the white erased indigenous cultures by making people forget their origins as if nothing wrong had been done.
