Is the main character of the movie “Rain Man” perceived or identified as having a disability by other characters in the movie? Describe the scene in which the supporting character identifies the disability.

Yes. The main character, Raymond Babbitt, is considered to have a disability as he suffers from savant syndrome. He is also confined in a mental health institution allowing other characters in the film to assert he has some form of disability.

The supporting character, Charlie Babbitt, learns that his father has died and has left his wealth to someone else. Upon further investigations, he realizes that the money is directed to a mental facility. When he visits the mental facility, he meets his half-brother and realizes that he suffers from savant syndrome. At first, he does not know what savant syndrome is and seeks clarification. He is also not aware that the main character is his brother. As the scene ends, he is unsure why his father left his wealth to a disabled person.
