The concept of race has existed in society for a long time. It involves categorizing people based on their physical attributes, culture, and behaviors. Modern scientists and sociologists argue that race is not a biological fact but a cultural idea associated with prejudice, inequality, and white supremacy.
According to Prontzos, genetics refutes the division of people into biologically diverse classes; hence, the use of the word race “reinforces the false belief that human beings belong to fundamentally different groups”. It is true that certain differences can be found in ethnic groups with regard to their linguistic, physical, and behavioral aspects. However, they are based on diverse experiences and cultures and not human biology.
