Is non-therapeutic sterilization an ethical practice? Why?

It is unethical and incompatible with respect for God’s greatest plan of creating a new human life. The goal of sterilization is to render a healthy organ inoperable, mutilating it and preventing it from performing its given functions. It is arrogant towards God on multiple levels, including but not limited to altering His creations without serious reasons and, once again, removing the procreative aspect from sexual intercourse.
