Many people prefer systems to remain unchanged and do not like it when the status quo is upset, which makes it hard to challenge a political system. One person who has had a significant political impact is Wisconsin state senator Tammy Baldwin who was inaugurated in 2013. Before Baldwin had served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and in the US House of Representatives.

Wisconsin is generally a Republican state where citizens hold conservative views. Being reelected in 2018 over a Republican candidate means that the state has become more accepting of progressive views, which indicates that Baldwin has a significant impact on Wisconsin.
I would like to have an impact on immigration rules in the US. I think the measures adopted by the country to curb immigration are needlessly severe. For instance, it is inhumane to separate family members or keep children in detention centers. Instead, I would advocate for immigrants to be granted legal residency status. I would also urge citizens to rethink their beliefs and attitudes towards immigrants that lead to the mistreatment of these non-nationals. Ultimately, my goal would be to relax the harsh immigration laws currently in place.
