In your own words, please define catastrophic events, major life events, and daily hassles. Considering your definitions, provide an example of a major life event and a daily hassle from your current life or future professional life. Discuss two specific strategies you could use to decrease the impact of these stressors on your life.

Catastrophic events are natural disasters like floods, hurricanes, or volcanic eruptions that result in a massive loss of properties and lives. Environmental changes like death and job loss are major life events that expose people to psychological threats or unpleasantness. Finally, daily hassles are minor stressors that people encounter in their daily lives.

An example of a major life event that is affecting my current life is the recent loss of my grandfather, whom I was very close to, and coping with his loss has been difficult. In my future career, dealing with stubborn clients is an example of a daily hassle that I am likely to experience.

I can use strategies to decrease the impact of stressors, including exercising regularly and relaxing. Exercises help in releasing endorphins that promote a positive mood, and relaxation help in relieving stress.
