The Nazi regime and the experiences of Jews during the Holocaust and World War II highlighted new perspectives of human behavior in the face of extreme threats, which contributed to the development of social psychology. According to Mattsson and Johansson, some people were inclined to save the Jews, while others participated in the mass murder due to different beliefs and perceptions of human life.
