Acting in a manner that one always treats humanity is the second statement of Kant’s categorical imperative. Humanity should be applied, whether in one’s own personality or other individuals, never as a tool to an aim but as an end in itself. Therefore, I would morally find it permissible to be someone’s slave because it would be a form of inhumanity even if I may not be related to him.
