There are several dissimilarities between the law and the code of ethics. Based on its definition, the law governs everyone in the community, state, or nation. Laws safeguard us in two ways. They outlaw detrimental deeds, and they discourage us from undertaking these deeds through punishment. On the other hand, the code of ethics governs specific professionals. For instance, engineers and physicians have a different code of ethics. Equally, a community, state, or nation establishes the law, while an institution that oversees a specific type of profession establishes the code of ethics. Another difference between the two is that the government enforces the implementation of the law, while the professionals and relevant regulatory bodies implement the code of ethics.
