Kansas City study researchers argued that random routine activities should be changed by redirecting the police attention from these patrols since they did not alter the crime occurrences or how safe the US citizens felt. Therefore, instead of random patrols, police officers could engage in activities such as targeted enforcement, community participation, and evidence-based and prognostic policing without altering their effectiveness in their duties.
In response to the findings of the Kansas City study, how should random routine patrol be changed? What other activities could the police be doing instead of patrolling neighborhoods?
