To begin with, after the younger gods decided to join to enjoy their time, their behavior became unacceptable to both Apsu and Tiamat. They were wreaking havoc, and neither of the first creators could control them anymore; therefore, Apsu’s saying: “I cannot abide the way the gods are behaving!” proves his high distress and anger.

Thus, Apsu, supported by Mammu, decided to destroy the gods no matter how Tiamat protested. However, Ea, the God of the Earth, created a plan to stop Apsu and Mammu: he restrained the first, took his symbols of the kingship, and then harshly killed him.
