According to the conformity theory, people try to adapt to various activities or events because they believe that the interpretations of others about ambiguous situations are accurate and help them choose the right course of action. With this knowledge, I can employ the strategies of prosocial behavior to induce people to contribute to the fundraising activity.

First, I would increase volunteerism by encouraging people to volunteer while preserving their sense of well-being. This will motivate them to even volunteer in the future as opposed to forcing people and making them feel that they have to contribute, which demotivates them to contribute in future when the need arises.

Finally, I would use positive psychology and prosocial behavior, which focuses on the quality and personalities of the individuals, to increase virtues like empathy and altruism. This will make the individuals put themselves in the victim’s shoes and trigger a reflex action towards contributing to the fundraising.
