If I was actually in a battle fought in space like the ones shown in science fiction movies, I would not be able to hear the explosions that occur. Sound travels by causing the molecules in the air to vibrate, but there is no atmosphere in space to carry sound across.

The former astronaut Chris Hadfield has confirmed that even the constant explosions of the Sun, which are more powerful than all of the nuclear bombs built on Earth, cannot be heard due to the vast emptiness and vacuum of space. Understanding how sound propagates and the testimony of astronauts confirms that battle explosions would not be heard in space.
