Watts gives three problems that have led to evil.

Evil leads man to do bad things and sin due to the lack of divine grace. This kind of grace is offered to us all, but this results in some people not accepting it as others do accept this grace. Evil, therefore, is thought to exist due to the failure of some people to receive this grace. This is obtained from God Himself. The fault for not having grace is for a man not asking for grace from God.

Secondly, the problem of evil is that man cannot be himself do any good due to sin, which can be traced to Adam, who preferred his desires to God’s.
The other problem of evil is that man’s refusal; to accept the offer of grace which is not a defect of nature that God gave him. Man’s involvement with evil is out of predisposing motives.
