How many sources of water are represented at the beginning of the Enuma Elish? How are they described? What are the possible interpretations of this, given the geographic location this myth comes from?

It is claimed that from the start of creation, on the Earth existed only water and mist that covered it. To be more exact, the three types of liquid were ruled by different gods: sweet waters by Father Apsu, salt by Mother Tiamat, and mist controlled by their son, Mummu. Consequently, sweet and saltwater sources are believed to be the formers of Anshar and Kishar. Overall, Apsu’s sweet steam can be perceived as a river, while Tiamat’s salt waters are a sea that joined together to form a universe in Babylon.
