When trade was integrated into people’s lives and the Silk Road’s importance increased, nations started to exchange ideas with each other. Thus, the innovation of technology followed this process as a result. For example, an invention by the Kushan people, stirrup, was used by warriors and knights in Europe and Asia (Bulliet et al., p. 226). It is possible to assume that without trade such inventions might not have been seen or utilized by societies. Moreover, people did not only adopt new technologies, they also often attempted to improve upon them. As with the mentioned above object, both Chinese and European warriors used stirrups for their own purposes. The spread of iron could have also been attributed to trade, as the Bantu people, who originally began to smelt this material, might have migrated to different areas and brought their knowledge with them (Bulliet et al., p. 236).
