Mabou Mines’ plays cover all the aspects of the concept of theatricality, which involves extra-textual (extra-verbal) aspects of the performance, artists’ gestures and behavior, music, etc. Furthermore, it is connected with the general crisis of the word, on the one hand, and representation in the conditions of total mediatization, on the other, in the modern Western culture, and hence the crisis of the “drama theater” itself. Thus, the artists of Mabou Mines manage to show the whole range of emotions using not only conventional theatrical means but also some new approaches and technologies.
