The role of project management is temporary, whereas general management actions are long-lasting. Project management consists of a program or task with a definite time to finish an objective, whereas, in general management, it is not a must that tasks are completed within the specified time. In project management, assets are limited, while the general manager is accountable for resourcing all the required elements deemed essential for the maintenance of other functions.
In essence, project management falls under the management as an academic discipline trained in universities all over the globe. Hence, it is valid to argue that the difference between project management and general management does not lie in leadership or other abilities required but in the choice of accountabilities that lie within each duty.
