The World Heritage Convention has celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. Australia is one of the leading countries in organizing the celebration of this anniversary. Considering all achievements made during these forty years, we may conclude that the countries are on the right way to the protection of the World Heritage. Nevertheless, there are still a lot of places which should be taken into account with this Convention. The results that Party countries have nowadays are obliged to the donations and the work of volunteers. If people continue to work in the same way uniting their efforts to preserve the World Heritage, they will succeed.
The countries that are not the parties of this Convention should think over this great possibility to join those people who do all their best to preserve the wealth of our Earth. Natural beauty, biodiversity, and cultural constructions are cherished today for future generations. The 40th anniversary is celebrated with a number of activities such as exhibitions, conferences, workshops, and targeted communication campaigns. This year focuses on the development of local communities. Local communities organized in different parts of the world play a very important role, and these united efforts will be guarantee good results. There are a lot of things that need preservation. That is why there are a lot of goals that should be achieved.
This kind of activity has inspired me a lot. I am happy that there are people who take care of our heritage. Nevertheless, I think that not only cultural and natural monuments should be preserved. People should think about the state of the whole environment. All the things surrounding us are valuable and should be protected. It is quite cynical to protect only those things that are considered to be more valuable than others according to the decision of some people.
