How can Schopenhauer’s pessimism be explained and evaluated?

A

Schopenhauer claimed that everything is caused by will. Again, the philosopher supported the concept of the dual world, phenomenal and noumenal. Thus, a person’s will to move a hand or a plant’s will to grow pertaining to the phenomenal world while there was an external will which was the cause of everything. The philosopher also believed that people are bound to follow the rule of the external will. As for me, this view is similar to fatalism and numerous religious beliefs.
