Helping an Addicted Client Resolve an Internal Conflict

How would you help your client addicted to alcohol explore alternative meanings of messages and discrepancies in thoughts and actions?

Imagine the following scenario: Your client is a person who is addicted to alcohol and has been through multiple treatments but does not want to quit drinking despite multiple DWIs and other legal charges. Identify the conflict by observing the mixed messages, discrepancies, or internal or external conflict. Point out the discrepancies in your own view and words in a tentative fashion. Evaluate the effectiveness or response.
