The “Catholic Declaration on Life and Death” is the permission of the patient to decide for him by the chosen surrogate. The Declaration takes effect if the patient loses the ability to control their treatment and make procedures. It also expresses the will of the patient at the end of life. The Declaration states that overly burdensome drugs should not prolong life, but the doctor must relieve pain. In addition, any spiritual help should be provided to the patient. The Declaration also indicates that the organization does not undertake any means to hasten the death of a person.
