A Russian revolutionary and a Bolshevik, who worked to spread the ideas of communism. In 1919, Kollontai established the Women’s Section in the Communist Party. She also was a Commissar of Social Welfare and a diplomatic counselor. Her political activism united communism and feminist ideas since she believed that capitalism oppresses women twice as much as men. A communist society, on the other hand, could help women and men to have equal opportunities at work and at home. She also supported the change in family dynamics that would free people of the need to rely on marriage. Kollontai contributed to the advancement of Marxist feminism while critiquing suffrage for its failure to address the struggles of working-class women.
