It goes without saying that different American states have different economic conditions, costs of living, and local governance systems. All these factors have a massive influence on the minimum wage rates across the country. The District of Columbia has the highest minimum wage of $13.25, while almost 20 states have the federal minimum wage of $7.25. Every state has a right to implement its own law concerning the minimum wage. However, if a state does not have this law or the federal wage is higher than its minimum wage, the state’s workers receive the federal wage.
