The predation-prey cycle is when the population size of predators and their prey increases and decreases. When predators decrease the size of prey, it allows the resource to grow and gives room to other species to use and increase. When there is an entry in prey, the predator’s population size rises due to available food. A variety in prey reduces the chances of a particular species being predated. Hence, the cycle is when a prey dies the predator also dies because it depends on the prey to survive. The Hare and Lynx model explain that when the Hare is abundant with other herbivores, and Lynx is preying on them, Lynx occupies isolated territories in Hare’s cycle. When the ecological interaction is affected by the low population of Hare many Lynx go itinerant and diversify their food.
