The empowerment of marginalized groups refers to efforts taken to enable communities to take the lead over the decisions and factors that shape their own lives. Community empowerment is aimed at identifying social, political, and socioeconomic challenges faced within minority groups and enabling them to be inclusive. Furthermore, community empowerment increases the self-determination of people so that they are able to solve their own problems.
It helps marginal groups in several ways, which include, but are not limited to, identifying and understanding their own challenges in health care, reducing social discrimination such as racism or ethnic disparities, and therefore equalizing service provision in healthcare. Health awareness reduces the effect of early infections by educating society on communicable diseases and the importance of early health screening programs.
