Ethnocentrism refers to the view that one’s own cultural beliefs and practices are superior to others. In communication, ethnocentrism causes people from different cultures to feel devalued or neglected.

Explicit prejudice occurs when someone is very open about their views or attitudes. Implicit bias acts outside of one’s consciousness and is frequently a direct outcome of one’s stated values and views. It is possible to address a person’s appearance as an implicit bias. While considering the person’s trustworthiness, delicate or pleasant physical characteristics (facial features) may unconditionally spam reliability.

Those found unpleasant or repulsive may be avoided or found untrustworthy.

Consequently, people more willingly interact, communicate with and trust “beautiful” people. This is an example of implicit bias that the majority of people experience unconsciously.
