Criminal victimization defines as an offense against an individual that happened to be a victim of a crime. The latter can be any type of crime, involving property crime: bullying, rape or sexual assault, domestic violence, labor trafficking, kidnapping, robbery, aggravated or simple assault, burglary, arson, and theft. Victimization also includes children crimes involving child abuse, child pornography, child sexual abuse, and teen dating violence.
Criminal victimization is measured by National Crimes Victimization Report (NCVR) and Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR). UCR collects information from monthly law enforcement reports or individual crime records transferred directly to the FBI. NCVR gathers data from surveys about crimes experienced by individuals and household members.
