According to Anne Conway, everything, except God, has two distinct substances- physical and mental essences. However, God is mental, and his decision to create other things determines their existence. If an object does not depend on God’s decision to create it, it ceases to exist. An object cannot exist if it does not conform to the state of being, both mental and physical.
