Please share your opinion if it is correct grammatically:

  1. The sentence is truly problematic. The problem is that you are making an unnecessary interruption in the middle of the sentence.
I would make this sentence shorter and with the less complex structure as flows: Tommy flew his paper plane from his window and watched it descending to the earth.

  2. No, you’d better remove the semicolon and that’s it. Don’t make it too difficult.
You need to check the grammar rules for the semicolon usage. For instance, you may follow this link https://writing.wisc.edu/Handbook/Semicolons.html
Generally, you will learn that the semicolon appears in a sentence to divide the 2 independent clauses. Independent clauses are the small sentences that can go on their own because they have every element of a complete sentence including the subject and predicate. However, the sentence that you have mentioned does not have independent clauses.
Its second part is incomplete because it does not have the subject and its subject should be the same subject that is in the first part of the sentence. So, using the semicolon is unjustified here. Moreover, all you need to do to make this sentence work is just unite the sentence parts into one normal sentence.

  3. The really strange thing about this sentence is that you have both the conjunction ‘and’ and the semicolon. If you check grammar guides, you will see that either of these can be used in a sentence but it should not be accompanied by the other. That’s the secret. What you can do is the two ways to put it actually:
    1. Tommy flew his paper plane from his window and watched as it slowly descended to earth.
    2. Tommy flew his paper plane from his window; he then watched as it slowly descended to earth.
