Election Campaign for a First-Time Candidate

As a first-time candidate, how would you approach your election campaign? What could be your strategy for gaining the support of your constituents?

You just decided to run for the US Congress to become a member of the House of Representatives. You know that constituents in your districts generally do not look fondly at Congress or its role in “getting things done.” However, in recent years, there have been some popular Representatives who have managed to gain higher approval ratings. Some recent local polls show that the issues people are most concerned about revolve around employment and job security, as well as gerrymandering.

Factors you may want to consider:

  • Your plan of action if you are elected;
  • Interest groups;
  • Political parties.
