While such an implication sounds completely abhorrent, I think that, for some people, this notion became a paradigm. First of all, there is an idea that socially desirable products and services are supposed to flourish, as their financial success will be supported by customers’ choices. However, these decisions are not made by society, as the focus is on those who have the ability to pay more.

Even nowadays, corporations have become prominent “citizens” of society, and their influence that comes from the power of finances will only continue to grow. Wall Street can now command how the state acts as a force for justice as imagined by corporations instead of how it was conceived by people. As long as profit is the only target for pursuit, human lives become a part of the equation toward this goal.
