Do you think it’s appropriate to take the car to college if you’re an undergraduate?
My parents think it’s a bad idea, but I believe the car will be useful.
Your parents are right. Yes, it may be convinient to ride home on weekends, but there are a lot of interesting things going on at college. You will not want to miss that. While staying at college at weekends you’ll have a chance to find some new friends.
Taking car to college isn’t so safe as well. The majority of students go to parties and drink. And, as you know, it’s dangerous to drive when you’re drunk. There’s a great chance you’ll harm yourself or your car will be damaged if not by you than by someone else.
All the students have the large discounts for transportation, and I suggest you to use buses.
It depends on the city you go to. In the large cities like New York, the public transportation services are excellent, so there’s no need to have a car.
You also need to check if your college allows the students to have cars. It can be forbidden.
There are pros and cons. The car will enable you to go anywhere you want outside the campus, but parking will cost you a lot. And the parking areas are usually really far from the main college buildings, so there is no point in driving your car to college.
Your college can have a free bus for the students’ transportation, so the car will be quite useless in this case.
It is a bad idea. The others will surely ask your permission to drive your car, and you can’t even imagine what they can use it for. The moral values of people are very different and you can never tell, until something bad will happen.
If your car will be involved in a kind of illegal activity, you’ll be the one who is responsible for it. Even if you’ll try to explain that you were not involved in anything illegal, your driving license and the documents will say against you.
Only the seniors have the permission to have the cars in most of the colleges.
Make sure that your college will allow you to take the car in your first year.
The college parking zones are limited, and the fees for parking are exorbitant. And, by the way, you will have to pay additional fees to the insurance company.
So haviang a car in college is troublesome
If your driving skills are good then take it. But I agree with your parents anyway.
In my college we were notallowed to have the cars but there were free bikes.
And they also had a convenient transportation system.
I didn’t even think about having a car at those times.
You could try to live at college without a car for some time and decide later, when you’ll attain some experience in your college life.
Having a car in college is distractive, you will regret then.
