Do you believe all of our voluntary actions are ultimately motivated to maximize our own self-interest?

From the philosophical perspective, the opinion that all voluntary human actions are motivated by self-interest sounds appealing. Indeed, regardless of the act a person does voluntarily, they do it for the ultimate benefit of themselves. In this regard, it is relevant to state that voluntary action is an action that someone wants to do, implying that the initiative or motivation is intrinsic to that human.

For example, one might decide to do a selfless deed, such as volunteer work or charity, which initially seems altruistic. However, upon contemplation, it becomes clear that a person obtains improved self-esteem, social recognition, enhanced reputation, and other self-interest-related benefits that drive such seemingly selfless behavior.
