This showed me that, while the society may develop to a state where wars are frowned upon and conflict with key values, there may be people in the government who are influential enough to change people’s perspectives on the subject.
The technological shifts that occurred in the 19th century had a significant influence on society by enabling mass production and business growth. Hence, it is possible that future technologies will influence military strategies, thus altering people’s perception of war and their attitudes to it. Based on the information provided in the chapter, global peace may not be achievable, but the concept of war and the means by which wars are carried out will probably change. Hence, wars in the future could be unlike the ones fought in the past and have different consequences for nations and individuals.
